Some Good Advice for Stolen Content

One of the biggest frustrations of being an online writer is how often you see other people stealing your content or your feeds and repackaging them as their own. While you could spend all your time hunting down email addresses and sending C&D letters, you"re likely going to have a hard time shutting folks down as often as they spring up. With that in mind, Brad Geddes has some good tips on how to optimize your own content so that if (when?) it is stolen, you"ll at least reap some rewards.

Brad offers up eight great tips, including these four:

1. Use absolute URLs.
2. Begin posts by including your name and/or blog.
3. Hyperlink your name to your about page.
4. Include a link within the first 2 lines to one of your blog entries.

It"s worth reading the full list and taking note of his suggestion of including at least one or two of them in each of your blog posts or articles.
