一个多月前，我在海内曾经发过一个帖子，谈了我对百度IM的几个建议或者说期望。我认为，百度应该彻底放弃另设一套自有协议，直接采用开放的XMPP协议，充分利用大量已有的资源。另外，提供第三方插件的开发接口，通过插件实现与第三方IM的互通。
我想我这个建议是有道理的，就像俞军所说的，百度Hi的目标，不是为了跟谁竞争，更不是为了取代谁，它只是为了更好地服务百度已有的用户和它自身的产品线。苹果要做一个在线音乐商店，瞄着的决不是市场上已有的那些服务，而是它自己的iPod用户。iTunes Music Store一不小心做成全美第二大音乐零售商，那是后话，是个结果，不是一开始设定的目标。
既然百度Hi的目标不是去跟QQ竞争，也不是为了像腾讯那样通过IM赚钱，百度就应该以一种更轻灵、更放松的心态，通过开放、合作，在更大的范围内整合资源，团结一切可以团结的力量。IM是个古老的游戏，寡头垄断的存在，已经让它越来越不好玩。珊瑚虫之死，也让我们越来越明白，寡头保护自身利益的动机是多么强烈。那么，为什么我们不能一起来玩儿一个新游戏，就像Google玩儿手机平台那种玩儿法？
当然，扮演规则制订者，需要足够的自信。封闭其实是一种不自信的表现，就像咱们的政府。百度要想真正high，除了要有领袖的实力，还要有领袖的气质，就像当年的IBM：跟我们走，我们是IBM。
