这一波iPhone热，随着产品正式发售而达到高潮。尽管摄像功能不支持视频拍摄，不支持彩信，不能更换电池，不支持外部存储扩展，等等等等。但再多的不足，仍挡不住6月29日发售日的iPhone狂热。
乔布斯认为，苹果可以在第一年卖出1000万部iPhone。对于一家刚刚进入通信领域的公司，这是一个惊人的数字，但对该领域的一些重量级老玩家，这一数字实在微不足道。2006年，全球共卖出约10亿部手机，其中诺基亚的销量占36%，达到3.47亿部。仅在中国市场，诺基亚就卖掉了5100万部手机。微软在手机市场搏杀数年，也仅仅取得1%市场的战果（去年搭载微软操作系统的智能手机卖出1000万台），而且主要集中在二三线品牌，几乎可以忽略。
普遍认为，通信市场与IT和消费电子市场是两个完全不同的市场，在这里，厂商除了要直接面对最终消费者，还必须面对卡在中间的运营商。在美国，目前只有AT&T的EDGE网络支持iPhone，好在无处不在的Wi-Fi，可以满足人们高速联网的需求。但在中国这样的运营商而不是消费者说了算的市场，所有入网手机，必须摘除Wi-Fi模块，不管消费者多么需要它。可以预料，合法进入中国的iPhone，必定是缺胳膊短腿的iPhone，谁需要一个这样的绣花枕头？所以，谈iPhone对传统手机厂商的冲击，需要把中国排除在外。
iPhone来了，苹果来了，尽管诺基亚们表面上很轻视它，但他们仍然不得不认真对待这个气势如虹的挑战者。本质上，iPhone所走的既不是通信概念（其通信功能丝毫算不上强大），也不是商务概念（文字输入体验极其糟糕），像iPod一样，iPhone走的仍然是休闲概念。 我特别认同胡狼狼的说法，“对于IPHONE，实在看不出，谁是基础服务，谁是增值服务，这就是IPHONE厉害的地方。”iPhone实际上是一个改朝换代者，它把传统的电信基础服务当作一个普通的功能，而把传统的作为增值服务的数据业务和数字娱乐推到前台。所以，我们可以说出iPhone的一万条不足，但仍不得不承认，我们过去的手机定义，到了该改改的时候了。微软没能改变电信行业的游戏规则，iPhone能不能？不知道。
一个人可以随身携带多少种电子设备？就像手机逐渐夺取了数码相机的市场，我想，乔布斯最担心的，是他的iPod市场在手机的倾轧之下同样沦陷。与其被动防御，不如主动出击。所以，他用做iPod的方式，做了iPhone。iPod六年卖了1亿台，把原来的MP3播放器市场打得七零八落。iPhone呢？
