在做维众Saying之前，我编了博客软件Terac Miracle，写博客也快3年了。但我发现一个问题：有时有些想法想记录，本来只想把事儿说明白了就好，可却浪费时间用无用的修饰语来连接这些事儿。后来发现liuren常用的1，2，3体非常好，简洁明了，基本上没废话。于是，我也开始这样写博客。
今年过年，我发现Tumblelog这种形式更好，简单实用，方便随时纪录，于是就考虑在维众上加这样轻量级（维众的Track，Video和Discuss同样也是）的应用。后来又看到Twitter和Xanga Pulse，觉得形式比Tumblelog还好：
- 简单：标题和内容合二为一（有时起标题也很难），没有分类，标签。很符合Dot Make Me Think原则。
- 字数限制：140 个英文字符或70个汉字，这样废话就少了，限制了长篇大论，把事情说清楚就行了。浓缩的都是精华，比如唐诗，那些超强的BBS签名档和短信等，在这点上中 国人比较有创造力！“What are you doing”（非常直白的方式，非浓缩，呵呵）只是另外的一小部分，也许Twitter的人不知道中国有一种叫唐诗的文体是严格限制格式和字数的：）
- 更好的支持手机：去年我换了个Nokia N72，内带的LifeBlog很难用，到支持WAP的博客网站写文章太麻烦，用手机打字很慢，我不想输入标题，内容，分类，标签等东西，只要简单的写一行字，我要保护我的手指。
于是就有了维众Saying。当时想了几个中文名：片语、微博、短信，可惜没有合适的。后来觉得“呻吟”和Saying发音接近，另外，觉得有时我写生活相关的东西差不多都是无病呻吟，所以就用它了。虽然我知道在现在的时代这个词可能会让部分人感觉有点儿别扭。
维众的原则: Be dead simple!
