上周和一个朋友聊天，说起GOOGLE的格言，我说是：“DON’T BE EVIL”，被他纠正了，说应该是“DO NO EVIL”，我后来特意查了查，确实应该是后一个。
这位来自美国的朋友很诙谐地解释了两句话的区别，“DO NO EVIL”是“不做坏事”，就是说，即使你是个坏人，不管你心里有多少坏心眼，只要不做坏事，就OK了；而“DON’T BE EVIL”是“不做坏人”，就是说你必须是个好人，打心眼里是个好人，但是，好人也会一不小心做坏事的啊。所以，“DO NO EVIL”是行为，“DON’T BE EVIL”是性格。行为比性格重要，对于一个企业而言。
这使我想起了中国的一句古话：“坐怀不乱真君子。”和GOOGLE的格言一比，真是相映成趣。
因为通俗的说，“坐怀不乱”，就是指有一个美艳的女子坐在你的怀里，而你的内心还不起歹意，不起色思，那你就是个真正的君子了。但是以西洋的、或者说现代的法律的标准来看，当你让一个美艳的女子坐在你的怀里时，那就已经构成“性搔扰”的罪名了，不是你性搔扰美女，就是美女性搔扰你，因为行为已经出现，不管你的内心是否混乱。
所以，中国人所说的“坐怀不乱”，注重的是内心感受（相配合还有一句是“方寸大乱”），而老外所说的“DO NO EVIL”,强调的是行为。所谓中西有异，莫过于此，不过，要走向法治，还得向西方看齐才行。
GOOGLE所说的“DO NO EVIL”，主要指的是商业伦理方面，其实商业和伦理本身有很多冲突，坏与不坏很难界定，即使对于GOOGLE也是如此，至于中国的互联网企业，就更难说了。
我个人觉得，“DO NO EVIL”还是挺符合我的脾胃的，因为我自问内心，成不了一个好人，圣人，但是，不做坏事，总还是相对比较容易做到的，要避免的，是“坐怀”这种事发生，如果真发生“坐怀”的事，再不乱，未免不合乎人性了。
